About the watch
Some Lange 1 references are rare because they are produced in limited numbers; others, however, seem almost never to have been intended to be discovered. The ref. 101.027X undoubtedly belongs to this second category.
Housed in the classic 38.5 mm white gold case, this "Secret" Lange 1 can easily be mistaken, at first glance, for a traditional first-generation model. However, it is the details that reveal its extraordinary character. Unlike the normal ref. 101.027, known for its blue dial, the 101.027X combines a silver dial with printed Roman numerals and heat-blued hands: a sober, almost monochromatic configuration, enlivened by refined accents of deep blue.
Its charm lies not only in its aesthetics but also in its aura of mystery. The 101.027X was never officially announced by A. Lange & Söhne, nor included in the brand's catalogs. It is believed to have been produced in very few examples in the early 2000s, thus becoming one of the most discreetly sought-after Lange 1 variants by collectors. A watch appreciated for its ability to combine the purity of the original design with a story that is still partly unresolved.
Inside beats the hand-wound caliber L901.0, the movement that helped define Lange's modern rebirth. It features the characteristic three-quarter plate architecture, a hand-engraved balance cock, twin barrels, and a power reserve of approximately 72 hours.
The result is a watch of rare discretion: it does not flaunt its rarity, it does not seek effect through obvious complications, but rather captivates with its depth, consistency, and historical significance. The 101.027X is one of the most elegant interpretations of the first-generation Lange 1: a reference whose importance is hidden in plain sight.
Please note that, in accordance with CITES regulations, shipments to countries outside the European Union will be made with a different strap.
Know your watch
A. Lange & Söhne has undoubtedly established itself as one of the world's most prestigious watchmaking houses, challenging Swiss dominance and raising standards in both the aesthetic design and mechanics of high-end timepieces.
With typical German precision and dedication, the brand creates timepieces that represent timeless elegance, enhanced by hand-finished movements of extraordinary quality. Each creation is a statement of style and craftsmanship.
The brand's modern adventure began in the early 1990s, when Walter Lange, determined to revive the family tradition, conceived the idea of relaunching the company in Glashütte after the fall of the Berlin Wall. In 2001, the Saxon manufactory returned to its historic home in Glashütte, the original building that had housed A. Lange & Söhne from 1845 until it was partially bombed during the Second World War in 1945.
