About the watch

Founded in 1868 in Schaffhausen, IWC has built a solid reputation in the world of fine watchmaking for its ability to combine technical precision and functional design. Unlike many other Swiss manufacturers, the company has always placed great emphasis on the engineering of its timepieces, developing robust, reliable watches designed with an almost industrial approach to precision.

The Ingenieur line was born from this very philosophy. Introduced in the 1950s as a technical watch designed for engineers and professionals exposed to magnetic fields, the collection stood out for its extremely robust construction and technical solutions that were advanced for the time. With the arrival of the SL version designed by Gérald Genta in the 1970s, the Ingenieur took on a new dimension: that of a luxury sports watch with an integrated bracelet. This model thus successfully blended the collection's technical heritage with a modern and sophisticated aesthetic, becoming one of the most fascinating and uncommon interpretations of integrated design of the time.

Know your watch

The Ingenieur SL represents one of the purest expressions of the integrated bracelet sports watch born in the 1970s. Designed by Gérald Genta at a time of extraordinary creativity for Swiss watchmaking, this model combines technical rigor and a strong aesthetic identity, distinguished by its bold proportions and instantly recognizable design.

In this case, Genta's vision is further enhanced by the all-yellow gold execution. The case, with its sculpted lines and finely satin-finished surfaces interspersed with polished accents, seamlessly integrates with the integrated bracelet, creating a visual continuity that has become one of the most iconic signatures of luxury sports watchmaking. The round bezel, secured by the characteristic five functional screws, frames a dial with a delicate grid texture, a distinctive element of the Ingenieur collection. The applied baton indexes and slender hands maintain an architectural and perfectly balanced aesthetic, while the discreet date window at 3 o'clock adds functionality without compromising the dial's symmetry.

The case flows seamlessly into the integrated yellow gold bracelet, composed of wide, sculpted links alternating between satin and polished finishes. The result is a harmonious ensemble, conveying both solidity and refinement. The watch is completed by the original integrated gold folding clasp, designed to fit perfectly into the bracelet's lines while preserving the fluidity of the design. Powered by an automatic movement and built to the technical standards of the Ingenieur line, this timepiece embodies a rare balance between engineering, aesthetics, and presence on the wrist.
