Longines Legend Diver

The Longines Legend Diver is the most emblematic watch in Longines' Heritage collection, inspired by a diving model from the 1960s and revisited with a modern twist in 2007. For 2020, Longines presents a new edition with a bronze case and a gradient dark green dial, without a date display. The bronze case and clasp change color over time, making each piece unique. Included in the box are a second green NATO-style nylon strap and a tool for changing straps. The watch is backed by a five-year warranty thanks to its non-magnetic silicon balance spring, ensuring precision and reliability.

The Submariner and the Seamaster aren't the only players in the diving watch scene.

In the 1960s, Longines created extraordinary diving watches with oversized 42 mm "compressor" cases, featuring two crowns: one to set the time and the other to control the internal bezel. These cases increased their water resistance with depth. While not technically superior to screw-down crowns in preventing water ingress, they represented an innovative attempt to improve the functionality of a watch designed for a specific use. Despite their practical limitations, watches with compressor cases became highly popular in the 1960s thanks to their captivating design.
