The Speedmaster, introduced in 1957, perhaps represents the most complete expression of this philosophy. Born as a sports chronograph and characterized in its early references by the distinctive Broad Arrow hands, it would later assume a central role in Omega's history.
The ref. 321.12.42.50.02.001 revisits that very first design language, reinterpreting it through contemporary construction and the Co-Axial caliber 3313. More than a simple re-edition, it testifies to how Omega has successfully used its archive as a starting point for evolution, maintaining the recognizable identity of the Speedmaster across different generations.
There are watches that look back to the past with literal nostalgia and others that reinterpret it without being bound by it. This Speedmaster Broad Arrow clearly belongs to the latter category.
Presented as a contemporary reinterpretation of the 1957 Speedmaster, it retains one of the collection's most iconic elements: the "broad arrow" hand. Here, however, the overall design takes on a different character. The 42mm steel case is paired with a silver dial with blue details, creating a more elegant aesthetic than the classic black Speedmaster.
The dial is the most distinctive element. The silver surface changes tone with the light, while the blue parts shift from almost black to an intense metallic blue. The tricompax layout maintains the functional clarity typical of the model, while the tachymeter bezel and Broad Arrow hands recall the 1957 CK2915.
Inside beats the Omega 3313 caliber, an automatic chronograph with Co-Axial escapement and column wheel, with approximately 55 hours of power reserve.
Its appeal lies in the balance between familiarity and its own identity: it is clearly a Speedmaster, but distinct from the Moonwatch aesthetic. The silver and blue combination softens its technical character, making it more versatile on the wrist.
