About the watch
The Rolex house was founded in 1905 and quickly established itself as a benchmark in Swiss watchmaking thanks to innovations such as the Oyster case and the Perpetual rotor. The brand builds its identity on precision, robustness and stylistic continuity.
The Daytona model was introduced in 1963 as a chronograph designed for the world of motor racing, taking its name from the famous Daytona International Speedway track. Over time it became one of the most iconic sports watches, also thanks to its association with Paul Newman, which reinforced its collector's value.
Reference 116500LN represents the contemporary evolution of the Daytona: it maintains the classic proportions, but introduces modern materials such as the Cerachrom bezel and the 4130 calibre, consolidating the model as a benchmark among high-end chronographs.
Know your watch
The 40 mm Oystersteel case retains clean, well-defined lines and offers superior resistance to corrosion. The black Cerachrom bezel, engraved with a tachymetric scale, remains unchanged over time: it doesn’t fade, resists scratches, and preserves that glossy depth which contrasts with the dial.
Inside beats the calibre 4130, an automatic chronograph movement developed by Rolex. A streamlined architecture ensures greater reliability, while the vertical clutch allows precise chronograph engagement without jumps. The approximately 72-hour power reserve guarantees continuity, and its accuracy meets the standards of a Superlative Chronometer.
This example comes as a complete full set: original box, warranty, booklets, and accessories. A coherent ensemble that confirms its provenance and collector’s value. The condition is excellent: a well-defined case, a tight bracelet, and a precise clasp. Any marks are minimal, light traces of careful use.
On the wrist, everything changes. The white dial reflects more light, enhancing the watch’s presence without making it intrusive. It is more legible, more immediate, yet always balanced.
It’s not just a chronograph.
It’s a different way of seeing time.
