About the watch

Universal Genève is one of the most respected names in Swiss watchmaking, famous for producing some of the most iconic vintage chronographs of the 20th century. Founded in 1894, the maison experienced its heyday between the 1940s and 1960s, becoming synonymous with technical elegance and innovation. Although less known to the general public, the brand continued to produce until the 1990s, with creations that are now experiencing a deserved rediscovery by enthusiasts and collectors.

Know your watch

This piece is one of the rare chronographs made in that period. It is the Compax model, reference 184.450, produced in a limited edition of just 100 pieces. The 35 mm 18-karat yellow gold case retains the classic proportions of Universal Genève, housing an ivory-colored dial with brown counters, reminiscent of the fascinating “tropical” effect found on some vintage models. The applied hands and indexes, also in yellow gold, complete a sober and refined aesthetic. The movement is a manually wound Lemania 1873 caliber, the same used by much more renowned brands, a guarantee of reliability and precision.

The watch is in near perfect condition. There is some light oxidation visible between the crown and the lower button. Please see the pictures for a complete view of the condition.

Currently fitted on a stylish brown strap with contrasting brown crocodile stitching with original UG buckle.

Complete with outer box, inner box and original warranty and documents.

A rare piece and increasingly sought after in the collectors' market. A unique opportunity for those who wish to own a rare chapter in the history of Universal Genève.
